The Fairy Tale Trail (Märchenwanderweg)

Yesterday we took the kids to the “Fairy Tale Trail” in the beautiful Klecke Forest, Jesterburg, Lower Saxony, Germany.

In the sweltering 30 degree heat we walked the 3,2km trail, which revolves around the story of a Trickster who destroyed the village’s magic wand causing the elves, draws and goblins, who had once lived in harmony to fight.

Starting at the entrance to the wood, there was a colourful map showing you the path you needed to take. Wand pictures were attached to trees along the path, showing the children which direction to go next.

In essence, you follow the path of three friends, Pinki the elf, Zipfel the dwarf and Kerl the goblin in their quest to get a new wand. After asking the snake how to find a new magic wand you embark on the trail, which comprises of 15 interactive and 5 climbing and balance stations in order to find 7 ingredients and complete a number of adventures to reach the wand.
